First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood supports its congregation through a number of classes and groups serving a variety of needs.
You do not have to go through this alone! GriefShare is a Christ-centered national program designed to help those mourning the death of a loved one. In incorporates informational DVDs, personal worbook, and support group to help you progress from mourning toward joy. Past members are welcome to return. Forgiven and Set Free "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will gie you rest." Matthew 11:28 Forgiven and Set Free is a support group for women who are dealing with the pain of a past abortion. This is a 10-12 week study, which meets in the leader's home. The group goes through a workbook dealing with issues many women face such as anger, guilt, confusion and depression. Please see www.divorcecare.org to find a group in your area. Marriage Preparation Class The Marriage Preparation Course is offered five times a year with a cost of $125 per couple. It is a five-week course that meets on Sunday afternoons. If you are getting married at FPCH, this class is required. Call the Pastoral Care Office at (323) 606-5240 for more information. Health Ministries The Health Cabinet provides health care, education, information and referrals through our parish nurse. We are in partnership with the QueensCare Health and Faith Partnership serving the Hollywood neighborhood. The parish nurse is supported by 26 professional health cabinet members who plan and promote health related programs for our congregation and the surrounding community. Singles Fellowship - "Friday Night Light" If you are single (and according to church surveys it appears that some 47-50% of FPCH members are), there is a wonderful new opportunity for you at Hollywood Pres. A new adult singles group is in full swing, meeting every Friday for dinner and a time of discussing God's Word. Created and shepherded by Don Bennett, it is called "Friday Night Light," and all singles are welcome for dinner and fellowship, followed by a scripture lesson, discussion and small group prayer. Dinner is available for $5. If you cannot make it on Friday nights, every Sunday the group also meets for lunch at various restaurants around the city.
