We are located at 1760 N. Gower Street, Hollywood, CA 90028.
At First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood, we are mindful that each person has a very
personal relationship with God. We seek to serve our congregation's
various "worship voices" by offering distinct worship experiences in
each of our services. We pray that in one or more you will find a place
where you can experience the loving, healing, and encouraging presence
of God.

8:30 am Contemplative Service
Be still, and know
that I am God. (Psalm 46:10)
Are you finding that life
is too hectic and you never seem to find the time to be still? Does your
week seem tofly by without you having a moment of silence or
experiencing any peace? Our 8:30 a.m. Contemplative service may be
perfect for you.
Beginning in the calm
stillness of
the early morning, this service is
a mix of the sacred sounds of
contemplative music, some in the
style of Taizé, the reverence of the Holy Communion and moments of
silent reflection and prayer. All of this creates a peaceful atmosphere
that allows us to quiet ourselves and be able to listen to God’s voice
amidst the flickering candlelight in Wylie Chapel ( campus map).
Join us for contemplation,
reflection and reconciliation. Experience the calming presence of God at
our Contemplative Service. Come, be filled with God's presence and be blessed.
9:30 am Classic Service
Give thanks to the
Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever. (Psalm 107:1)
In this
ever-changing world, are you searching for a service that is rich in
tradition? A service where the focus is on the proclamation of the
inspired Word of God? If this is what you're looking for, then we
welcome you to our 9:30 am Classic Service.
Our Classic service honors the elements that
have bound Christians together for centuries and have been practiced at
FPCH for over 100 years. The Lord's Prayer, the
Apostles' Creed, and great hymns of the faith fill the Sanctuary.
Come listen to our wonderful Cathedral Choir, directed
by
Ariel Quintana, as their voices rise up to the rafters in song that
fills the sanctuary and touches your heart. The voices of the choir and
the sound of the organ, played by Dr. Kimo Smith, create rich harmonies
and textures that transport worshipers into His majestic presence.
The 9:30 am service has proved popular with
families as Sunday School
and childcare are offered
during this service.
This service is interpreted for the hearing
impaired.
Please join us on Sundays at 9:30 am in the
sanctuary (campus map) for the
Classic Service.
11:00 am Worship at 11:00
God Inhabits the
Praises of His People. (Psalm 22:3)
The
11:00 o’clock Service
is
a 60 to 70 min service where we gather for contemporary worship. We use an
informal order of service with a worship band lead by Christia Mantske to lead the congregation in
a variety of current worship songs. The congregation actively participates,
singing a wide variety of current worship songs as well as new arrangements of
favorite old hymns. Frequently in Worship at
Eleven we also have special Messages in Song from various choirs Hollywood
Mass, Sonshine, Heaven Bound or Carol Choir. We have our central
focus in God’s Word. Our pastors bring the Good News in messages that speak to
the heart. It runs at the same time as the Christian Education Department, so
there are many adults in this service while children and youth are elsewhere in
their age-specific gatherings. However we are certainly very child-friendly.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” Each week they are invited to
join up front in the sanctuary for a special children’s sermon. There are so
many children, we often joke that the floor feels like it’s tilting when they
go forward. We also feature drama and video presentations. We celebrate
Holy Communion bi-monthly. Won’t you join us!
Join us as we open our
hearts to worship with prayer and praise every Sunday at 11:00 am in
the Sanctuary (campus map).
At the end of all of our
services, there is an opportunity for one-on-one prayer. If you have a special prayer request, or would just like someone
to pray with, we would love to pray with you!
