Our Program

“To enable the children of our church to grow to maturity as active disciples of Christ.”

Our department of Children’s Ministries at the First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood is committed to the following goals:

1.    To share our knowledge of God and His plan for our lives, using Bible-centered curriculum to study both the Old and New Testament.

2.    To share Christ and His plan for salvation, and to guide each child into a personal commitment to Jesus as Lord and Savior. We trust that the Holy Spirit will lead and prepare each child to receive this gift.

3.    To guide children to know they are loved by God as His unique children, special in His sight.

4.    To  help children develop an awareness of their Christian responsibility to participate in the life and work of the church, and to serve God at home, in the community, and in the world.

Ministry to Early Childhood (Age 2 through Kindergarten)

Bright, attractive, well-equipped rooms reflect our love and concern for the needs of young children.  Our teachers guide preschoolers into a beginning knowledge of the Bible, leading them toward a belief in God as revealed through Jesus Christ.  The classes are divided and taught in a manner appropriate for the child’s age and development.

Ministry to Elementary (grades 1 through 6)

In each of our elementary departments, children use their increasing skills in reading, writing, and building relationships to grow in their under-standing of what it means to be a Christian.  Our Sunday morning program includes worship, prayer, singing, Bible stories, memorization of verses, crafts, and a variety of activities which help our children deepen their understanding of the Bible.  The children are challenged to apply the truths found in the Bible to everyday living an to grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.  In 2nd grade the children earn their Bibles by memorizing Bible verses.

Each grade level has its own department except for Kids of The Kingdom which is a combination of 5th & 6th graders.

Sermon Series: Real Life Community
Lesslie Newbigin once said, “It is surely a fact of inexhaustible significancethat what our Lord left behind Him was not a book, nor a creed, nor a system of thought, nor a rule of life…but a visible community.”
But what might that look like in real life?
