GriefShare
If you have suffered the loss of a loved one (parent, spouse, child, grandparent, a friend), please consider joining with others to start the process of healing from grief to joy. You don't have to go alone.
- Grief Share is a national Christ-centered program that uses combination of facilitated group discussions, informational DVDs, and personal workbook to help grieving persons recover from the death of a loved one.
- In 2011, FPCH Grief Share support ministered to over twenty grieving persons. They also served as welcoming introduction to our church for members of other congregations and for the un-churched.
- Through advertising in the national GriefShare data-base, FPCH Website, and regular worship in-service bulletin, we have broadened the scope. It is interesting to note that our main referral source is other churches/pastors that refer their members to us.
- Della Speer and Anita Maguire are our lay facilitators for the fifth session together.
Spring 2012 Session will be as below:
- January 12, 2012 - April 5, 2012
- Thirteen Thursday evenings, 7-9 PM in the Parlor
- There is $15 cost for personal workbook
- Contact: Elder Della Speer, 323-655-0450 or Anita Maguire, 310-560-3645
Forgiven and Set Free
This ministry is led by two lay leaders, Sarah Mark and Sophia Lin.
- This deeply effective support ministry provides caring and compassion for women who have had an abortion. It helps them rediscover forgiveness and the love of Christ allowing them to move forward. Because this group is non-denominational and open to many churches, it also provides an open door to our church as a supportive and welcoming environment, as well as ministering to those in distress.
- At the end of 2008, Lori Berg began a gift bag ministry which encourages women to seek counseling and provides information on contacting Forgiven and Set Free.
Prayer Ministry
Led by Pastor Scott and Prayer Ministry Team as below:
- Spirit Filled Prayer: Third Saturday, every month, 9-10:30 AM in the Parlor
- All Church Praise and Prayer: January 11, 2012, April 11, 2012 in the Mears, 6:30 - 8 PM
It is the vision of the Prayer Ministry to build a house of prayer for the Lord (Isaiah 56:7) at First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood. We endeavor to unite God's people in corporate and intimate personal prayer in order to worship the Lord our God, to encourage the hearts of God's people, and to discern the will of God for His church and for our lives.

Sermon Series: Real Life Community
Lesslie Newbigin once said, “It is surely a fact of inexhaustible significancethat what our Lord left behind Him was not a book, nor a creed, nor a system of thought, nor a rule of life…but a visible community.”
But what might that look like in real life? | |
