Its exciting to know you might be interesting in becoming a
member. It is an important commitment to
our community of faith.
Our next New Members
class will be this Spring.
Click here to sign up for the New Member's Class.
Here is what you need to do:
- Let
us know you are interested
- Attend
the New Members Class
- Be
received by the FPCH Session and recognized by the FPCH Congregation
Step 1: Let us know you are
interested:
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
or call Susan Rigby at 323.606.5264 to reserve a place
in the one-day class and click here to fill out
the attached information forms. Either
submit them by email or print them and deliver to them to the church, to the attention
of the Christian Education Department ( Please be sure to let us know if you
will need child care on the day of the class as well, so we can make necessary
arrangements).
Step 2: Attend the New Members Class
Membership is about furthering your growth in becoming a disciple
of Jesus. It is about making the choice to join our great family of faith. That's why this New Members Class intends to
not only teach you all about our church, but to encourage and aid your personal
growth in following Christ. Everyone is welcome to explore membership.
This two day class introduces participants to what it means
to be a follower of Jesus, explores how you can begin to discover how God has
called each one of us to grow and to serve. The schedule looks like this:
- What
it means to be a disciple
- What
it means to be Reformed and Presbyterian
- What
it means to be a member
- A
bit about the history of our church, our church culture, and where God
seems to be leading us in the future
- What
it means to worship God, learn about Him, and serve Him
- What
you can do to make a difference
You may have been attending FPCH for years but never made
the commitment to membership. You may have only been visiting for a short time,
but feel as if God is calling you to a deeper commitment to our family of
followers. You may have been a Christian for many years or you may not be sure
what being a Christian really means.... maybe you have never even considered
spiritual things before...
There is no obligation to become a member (and no secret
papers or contracts to sign!), we want you to feel free to explore. Our
pastors, some of our staff & other members will help guide you along this
process of becoming a member, allowing lots of many opportunities to ask as
many questions as you like.
Step 3: Be Received by the FPCH
Session & Recognized by FPCH Congregation
The Session (leaders of the church) of our church welcomes new
members after the completion of the New Members Class. In addition, new members
are recognized by the congregation during worship in the Sanctuary. The
Sacrament of Baptism, if desired, is administered during this time.
