Diaconal & Community Ministries |
The Strategy for Local Ministry and
Mission is to empower those we serve, to advocate with and for those in need,
to network and form partnerships with agencies beyond the church, to shape
public policy as it pertains to the common good, and to facilitate
opportunities for our congregation to participate in missional activities in
our city.
- Empowerment Our ministries empower
people by providing: food, access to healthcare, employment opportunities,
social services and case management, legal assistance, counseling and prayer,
and opportunities for spiritual growth.
- Advocacy for those in need—By
networking with community coalitions, legal aid groups, and health agencies we
can address the income, housing and health needs of the poor in our community.
- Networks and partnerships with
agencies beyond the church—We increase the effectiveness of our ministry and
service through partnerships. For example, through our Hollywood Healthcare
Partnership we have established relationships with QueensCare, the LA County
Departments of Public Health and Mental Health which provides a way for us to
connect people to local health care.
- Facilitating opportunities for our
members to participate in missional activities—These activities provide
opportunities to meet new people, build relationships, listen to and observe
the needs in our community, learn about our ministry context, and work together
to strengthen the wellbeing of our community.
