Pastor Scott Erdman and a team of five regular volunteers (Gene Wohlberg, Josephine Hughes, Morris Paulson, and Della Spear) made hospital visits and calls to over 200 members and families. The Pastoral Care office is the hub where records are maintained of all contacts and information on those needing care. All aspects of visitation are supervised under Pastor Scott’s direction.
In addition, Scott coordinates with Matilda Novak, Deacon Moderator, to keep the Deacons abreast of shut-ins requiring visits, where the Deacons coordinate a team of occasional or location specific visitation volunteers. 2009 was an intensive year, with many illnesses leading to deaths that struck close to the heart of our church family. Lenore Krusell, Kathie Schulz and Cheryl McClelland are three volunteers who make regular phone calls to check in with Seniors and pray with them. Tricia Harris has begun calling and card writing from our office as our newest volunteer. Both Diane Leggewie and Allison Jolley are helping when possible.
From weekly prayer slips collected at the worship services, phone calls, emails, and even internationally from our website, we receive and disseminate prayer requests. The information for those requesting prayer for health concerns go to prayer groups and these individuals are prayed for on a daily and/or weekly basis. Each week, our church bulletin is updated with the names of congregants who are ill and in need of prayer or visitation. Kathie Schulz and Lorynne Young (Cathedral Choir Chaplain) are regular sources in updating us with prayer requests; Kathleen Cooper and Adelene Dahle through the Tuesday Night Intercessory prayer meeting lift up those petitions.
