Rev. Baumgartner has been Senior Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Hollywood since November, 2010. Formerly, he served as the Senior Pastor at Bethany Presbyterian Church (“Bethany”) in Seattle, WA for 11 years. He received his B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Washington and an M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. Dan was in business for 11 years and held several senior executive positions, including Director of Marketing and Purchasing of CARQUEST Auto Parts, before being led to pursue full-time ministry. In 1996, Dan accepted his first call as Associate Pastor at Knox Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, MN.
Dan was born and raised in Seattle. He met his wife, Anne, in high school; they have been married for 28 years. The Baumgartners have three great children – sons, Jesse and Nick, and daughter, Dana. When Dana left for Drew University in August, Dan and Anne officially began life as "empty nesters." Anne is an artist and art teacher, recently completing her M.F.A. at the Art Institute of Boston. She is a phenomenal woman and wonderful friend and ministry partner to Dan.
Dan loves to run, bike, play golf, and hike. He loves sports of all kinds, both as a participant and a spectator. He is a voracious reader and is usually in the middle of 3 or 4 books of different genres. Whenever he has time, Dan also enjoys writing an occasional poem, essay, short story, and maybe a book some day. |

Lesslie Newbigin once said, “It is surely a fact of inexhaustible significancethat what our Lord left behind Him was not a book, nor a creed, nor a system of thought, nor a rule of life…but a visible community.”
But what might that look like in real life?
