“God bless us, every one!” Need a little hope and heart for the coming months? In the spirit of a longtime Hollywood Pres holiday tradition, FPCH is reviving a community outreach production of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic A Christmas Carol in our Sanctuary December 3-18. Please get your tickets early (click EventBrite button) and plan to bring families and friends to see our gorgeous church bedecked in Christmas garlands and greenery. This gem of holiday joy is an old story filled with the Gospel’s power to reach even the most reluctant and unlikely. (Because of COVID, tickets will be required, priced to make attending in reach for everyone. Group tickets available for special pricing. Watch for further announcements in the E-Pres and our Announcements page for updates and seating/mask protocols.)

Perfect for children, church groups, seniors and the child-at-heart in everyone, this new 1-hour interactive Christmas Carol returns to Dickens’ original Gospel-saturated text, but paced for today’s audiences with professional Broadway-experienced actors, directing and production – and audience participation in singing and caroling. FPCH’s A Christmas Carol – the way Dickens meant it to be! Adapted and choreographed by Julietta Corti, directed by Jesse Corti, produced by Kimi Walker.

Ushers in Victorian-era costumes will lead caroling as audiences take their seats. Immediately following each performance, the audience will exit to a Fezziwig Dance Party in the Mears courtyard, where you can learn a Victorian jig and enjoy caroling and warm cider. Audiences are invited to come in Dickens-era costumes or hats, if they like. Performances will be the 3 weekends before Christmas, at 7 p.m. Fridays and two performances on Saturdays, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. For tickets, please click the EventBrite link below. Free parking, with security detail.

Come again and again with friends, and with Tiny Tim you’ll be growing our church’s commitment to love and care for all our members, by improving accessibility for wheelchairs and walkers on our church campus.

Ticket sales and donations (above production costs, being mostly volunteered) will benefit FPCH long-term in better aligning with ADA standards (Americans with Disabilities Act). This means improving safety and access for entryways, bathrooms, stairs, etc. The FPCH Facilities team will decide on projects and priorities based upon funds raised. (Our EventBrite page offers an option for donations, as well as tickets.) We’ll start with small projects, but if A Christmas Carol continues next year and following, God willing, we’ll continue to add to these funds. Churches are exempt for the most part from retrofitting ADA requirements, but out of love, we can prioritize making FPCH welcoming to all! “God bless us, every one!”

Our own beloved Tim Farmer is Ebenezer Scrooge, who learns the true meaning of Christmas and invites us on his journey. Producer Kimi Walker (long-time FPCH elder and choir president) is featured leading Scrooge’s journey as The Ghost of Christmas Past. In coming weeks, look forward to learning more about our full cast!

The heart of A Christmas Carol is sermon and worship rolled together, challenging our lives with God’s Spirit of compassion and kindness, despite our Scrooge-like pasts. Make a memory together you’ll be talking about for years to come – it might even change your life. If you’d like to be part of this celebration, you can help us by getting your tickets early, posting and forwarding the EventBrite link, giving away flyers to invite friends and local ministries you’re part of, even putting up posters in favorite businesses that might welcome hearing about this event. Our congregation is invited to volunteer in a variety of capacities, and of course to attend multiple times with children and guests. Individual and corporate sponsors are also welcomed.

For tickets and donations, please click our EventBrite button, and share this button with others! We’ll be inviting local churches, school groups, and ministries to join with us and bring guests as well. We hope to see you there – it will be a Christmas to share and remember! “God bless us, every one!”
