This Sunday the Cathedral Choir will sing an anthem based on Psalm 25:4 & 5 titled  Show Me Thy Ways by Walter Pelz. The piece is uniquely accompanied by Oboe and Guitar. The instrumentalists who will join us are our own Victoria Sabonjohn – oboist, and special guest guitarist; Moses Sun. Victoria is certainly no stranger to us here at Hollywood, but we thought you might be interested to learn more about both these outstanding musicians in their own words.

Victoria Sabonjohn is a professional freelance oboist and educator in the Los Angeles area.  She relocated to California in 2005 following earning a Masters Degree from the New England Conservatory of Music and Bachelors Degree from Stetson University. As a professional oboist, Mrs. Sabonjohn performs actively in the LA area, playing with several local orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Santa Cecelia Orchestra, and Long Beach Symphony. Other career highlights include touring with the National Broadway tours of musicals, as well as local productions. She recently returned from playing the national tour of Wicked and will be playing oboe/English horn in Fiddler on the Roof and The Secret Garden in the spring. In addition to performing, Mrs. Sabonjohn maintains a vibrant teaching studio and works with young musicians in several school districts. Mrs. Sabonjohn and her husband Steven have been members of FPCH since 2006 and sing in the Cathedral Choir.

Moses Sun is a South Korean-born guitarist, composer, and producer who came to the States 15 years ago to pursue his career in music, and is involved in playing for various live performances and studio sessions throughout Southern California for artists & producers, corporate events, churches, and for schools. Since having received his Master of Music in Guitar Performance and Composition from Azusa Pacific University in 2012, he is also actively taking on arranging work for clients — such as handling full choral/orchestral commissions for Glenkirk Church, Angeles Chorale, San Marino High School, and Azusa Pacific University. He is also involved in numerous co-write sessions with independent artists throughout Los Angeles. Working in composition backgrounds have led him to many opportunities in working in the film industry as well, working behind the scenes on score preparations for DreamWorks’ production of VeggieTales, Marvel’s Luke Cage, Disney’s Bizaardvark, and the motion picture Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Moses Sun has also released his first Christmas album, titled Glory and Peace, featuring his own arrangements and orchestrations to well-known Christmas carols in December 2017. When he is not working on music, Moses also does commercial voiceover work for companies like Samsung, Motorola, and Akamai Technologies, and also translates subtitles for Netflix TV shows and books.

The choir is looking forward to sharing this musical offering with you. See you Sunday!
