O God, the King of glory, you have exiled your only Son Jesu Christ with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven: Do not leave us comfortless, but send us your Holy Spirit to strengthen us, and exalt us to that place where our Savior Christ has gone before; who lives and reigns with ou and the Holy Spirit, on God, in glory everlasting. Amen

Readings

John 17:1-11

1 Peter 4:12-14

Reflection

Sunday is the last Sunday in the Easter Season as well as, a celebration of Memorial Day. It is a difficult Sunday to pull two very similar yet, divergent themes together. As the conclusion to the Easter Season we are reminded again of what Jesus Christ has done for us through His crucifixion, death, resurrection, and ascension. In the message for Sunday I used the following image as a lens to look at our lives in Jesus Christ.

Take some time and reflect upon the image. From the perspective of where you are:

  • What do you see?
  • What do you feel?
  • What are you experiencing?

After reflecting upon these questions read the Scripture readings for Sunday.

  • What stands out to you in the Scripture readings?
  • Who is God calling you to “be” in John 17:1-11?
  • Who is God calling you to “be” in 1 Peter 4:12-14?

Six questions to stimulate self-reflection. Six questions to move us toward the light.

God bless you! See you online Sunday!
