Holy Week is a journey from Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through the trials and tribulations in Jerusalem on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday evening we find Him gathered with His disciples to celebrate Passover. Here at the Passover table Jesus washes their feet and institutes the Last Supper or Eucharist that the Church has celebrated ever since. While in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane at the foot of the Mount of Olives he is betrayed and turned over to the authorities. On Friday we witness His trial, crucifixion, death, and burial. Saturday the world stands still for His followers.

On the first day of the week, Sunday, three women journey to Jesus’ tomb to complete the burial process while there a young man robed in white has one word for them in the Greek language in Mark 16:6 — EGERTHE — He is risen!

It is my hope that you have or are in the process of joining us on YouTube for our Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services. We have also put together for you a rather lengthy, though meditative prayer vigil for Holy Saturday. Taking this journey with Jesus is a journey of resurrection. It is a new day. A new time. A new birth. For all who follow Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Egerthe — He is Risen!

What does it mean to you … for you … that Jesus is risen?

To believe and have a risen Lord who has cancelled DEATH! Who has taken our sins to the cross and buried them in the ground then rise again so that, you … yes you … can have LIFE!

What does it mean to you … for you … that Jesus is risen?

In Christ,

Pastor Tim
